Andrea Thurlbeck – The Editor of R&R Magazine 

Andrea Thurlbeck is an award-winning journalist with 22 years media experience.  Starting her career in Manchester Andrea wrote for the Salford City Reporter before moving back to her native North East to work for the Hartlepool Mail. She has also written features for some regional and national publications on a freelance basis and was the ITN Reporter for the 1992 General Election for Salford East Constituency.

She moved on to the Sunderland Echo where she spent time as Consumer Editor and Crime Reporter winning press awards for her work. Andrea also has experience in editing and overseeing magazine production both regionally and nationally during her time with the Sunderland Echo and independently.

She joined Results Network PR and Marketing in a senior management role in 2007.  She has continued to work on some quality publications and has just launched the first in a series of R&R Magazines.

Andy Barker – Commercial Editor of R&R Magazine 

Andy Barker, 47, has 22 years experience working in the media sector in the North of England. He began his journalistic career with North East press working as a reporter on the daily evening newspaper the Sunderland Echo and as head of news at the Star Series group of six weekly newspapers (with a distribution of more than 250,000 covering South Tyneside down to Teesside.)

Andy went on to work as a freelance journalist supplying a copy to local North East TV and radio, national magazines and national newspapers.

He moved into PR with a North-based consultancy in the late 90s managing its North East operation while handling PR activity for clients such as National Grid, NEDL (Northern Electric Distribution Limited), Yuill Group, VisitBritain (formerly the English Tourism Council) and Halifax.

In January 2000 he returned to journalism as part of the launch team of the regional daily free newspaper Metro News. Andy returned to PR in 2001 taking up a directorial role with a private PR company overseeing activity in both the North East and Yorkshire office.

In 2005 Andy became a freelance consultant and set up Results Network PR and Marketing, currently based at The Quadrus Centre. He was born and brought up in the Sunderland area and has a wide range of contacts within the media and business community gained through his 16 years experience.

Neville Thurlbeck – freelance writer

Neville Thurlbeck is a multi-award winning writer with 25 years experience in Fleet Street. For most of those years, he was at the News of the World newspaper, the most prominent English speaking newspaper in the world.

In his role as Chief Reporter and News Editor, he broke some of the most significant stories of the last two decades. His investigation into Jeffrey Archer sent the author and peer to jail for perjury. And his five-month undercover investigation in Australia and Spain exposed David Beckham’s secret extra-marital affairs.

These investigations were voted by his peers as the most sensational stories of the year, earning him the Scoop of the Year trophy at the British Press Awards twice.

His unrivalled contacts in politics, Whitehall, showbusiness, sport, Scotland Yard and the security services earned him numerous other awards. These included the What the Papers Say Scoop of the Year Award, the London Press Club Scoop of the Year Award, Campaign magazine Scoop of the Year Award (twice) and his own newspaper’s Scoop of the Year Award (twice).

Additionally, he has also been a runner-up in the British Press Awards Scoop of the Year and also for Reporter of the Year and Specialist Reporter of the Year.

Neville has appeared regularly on the university lecture circuit, giving talks to journalism students and has given numerous radio and TV broadcasts providing revealing insights into undercover news gathering.

He also advises companies and charities on how to engage with the media and continues to provide PR advice on a regular basis.
